CTMS Cross Country News
Your Chisholm Trail Cougars competed on Saturday at the McNeil Invitational against more than 700 middle school runners from across the state. Cougars did not let an extremely hot day and difficult course slow them down. We had strong performances from Nishtha G and Will M, and in a field of 396 7th and 8th grade boys, Josiah P and Brendan H finished in the top 50 at 48th and 36th, and Miles B finished as the 2nd 7th grader and the 18th finisher overall!
We followed Saturday up with the District Meet at Walsh, where again both 7th and 8th graders compete in the field together. It is no joke that hard work pays off! Your Cougars dropped a combined total of 3 minutes and 50 seconds from season bests, with every athlete running a personal best time! Nishtha G put in an incredibly strong personal best and finished at 17:48. Quinn N and Will M both dropped a full minute from their personal bests with lights out races coming in at 16:11 and 15:54. Finishing with a season top speed of 10:10 and 20th place was Brendan H. Coming in 16th overall with a time of 13:01 was Josiah P. And leading the way for the Cougar boys and all 7th grade boys in the district was Miles B with a 5th place overall finish and a personal best time of 12:07!
Ms. McAlpine and Ms. Neary are beyond proud of the work and success of this team and all our early morning runners! We look forward to continuing to drop time and set new goals as we train throughout the year.
